I built the perfect plan to move house. It failed.

Hello friends,

Three years ago, I built the perfect framework to help my family relocate and move house: spreadsheets, weighted lists, decision matrices. It felt smart. It felt in control. But what I learned (after landing in Germany’s unluckiest town) changed how I think about big life decisions.

In my latest video, I share a mix of personal experiences and explore why frameworks can feel reassuring yet sometimes keep us stuck. It unpacks how they help lighten mental effort and ease decision fatigue, examines the illusion of control (and how that can backfire) and digs into the psychology of avoidance and fear around making choices.

For anyone trying to make any big choice, this is about learning when to let go of mental models.

Below, some stills from the video.

Take care,

Adam
